Classic Shelby MustangsThe Shelby Mustang was a specially modified series of Ford Mustangs introduced in 1965. The earliest Shelby GT 350s were "rear battery" cars, with the battery mounted in the trunk. After drivers complained about battery acid fumes, Cobra Battery Caps were added to vent the fumes out of the car via hoses through the trunk floor. Shortly thereafter, the battery was moved to the engine compartment, and today Shelbys with the trunk-mounted battery and Cobra Battery Caps are prized collectors' editions.
